Ross is the exclusive small town located in Marin and it’s only 1.5 miles southwest from San Rafael, and a mere 18 miles away from San Francisco. Tucked in between San Anselmo at the north and Larkspur in the south, it has some of the best weather in all of Marin. However, it also is the recipient of the greatest rainfall in the county. Long before Ross was a town, in the early 1800s, Ross Valley was home to native Miwok Indians. Ross is now known as a hiker’s paradise with trailheads leading up the base of Mt. Tam and abutting numerous open space parks. Resident’s privacy takes precedence and many of the homes are behind trees and hedges. Ross is another of the Marin’s towns that works well for commuters looking to take a break from the busy city life.
